Melt the Summit transports the player into a fictional narrative world based on the real life era and location of the eastern alpine region of Italy, Austria, and Slovenia in the 1300s. Follow the path of revenge for your kingdom you call home as you embark on an investigative journey up the nearby alpine mountains where you defeat foes and solve puzzles to put to an end to the generations of destruction. Utilizing the game engine, Unity, with its C# coding language, digital art, and music; I work to create an interactive art piece that follows a narrative that the players experience as the main character. I created various game mechanics, music, and art inspired by Legend of Zelda, Dark Souls, Pokemon, Isles of Sea and Sky, Mina The Hollower & Chrono Trigger while maintaining a completely original story and game loop. I chose to create this artwork as a video game because I believe that it allows for the most interaction possible between the player and the narrative. The goal is to facilitate the necessity to logically and strategically make decisions based on the game loop to complete the game and resolve the story. Additionally, I make room for the player to explore the world and be rewarded for doing so, every detail was placed for a reason and helps push the narrative forward.
