It's You & Me

Artist Statement

The concept of my work is around mental health, and how words have an important role in shaping our mental health. I believe that this is such an important topic to discuss and advocate for, because I understand how important it is to take care of our mental health. I first recognized the importance of words when I realized how negatively me, friends and peers talked about ourselves and how this was negatively impacting our mentality. Mental health is such a broad topic, and therefore I wanted to focus on the impact of negative and positive words and phrases. With my project, It’s You & Me, I allow the viewer to choose how the story goes while demonstrating how our actions and words can affect others. The purpose of these stories are to bring awareness on how much power words hold and how we can use that to our advantage to help boost up others as well as ourselves. This project includes: writing, digital illustrations, CSS code, Twinery.org and Itch.io.
