Escapism

Artist Statement

"Escapism" displays the feeling of importance, evasion, and fantasy through 3D visual renders as I enjoy utilizing digital tools to express my creative freedom. As people, we tend to get lost in life and forget how meaningful we and our lives are as the dreadful feeling of becoming stagnant or stuck in a void or loop begins to occur. I tend to get overwhelmed when it comes to some situations and wish I could escape somewhere else. When I sit myself down and start creating my art, I feel comfortable and at peace in my type of sanctuary. I feel as if I can do nothing wrong when I am in that zone. I possess a feeling of escapism when I am creating my art. Having the feeling that I can do no wrong is a tremendously great feeling and fuels my drive. That feeling allows me to unleash my creative juices and display my thoughts and feelings. When I feel stuck or lost, I tend to turn to my creativity to comfort myself. I created these 3D environments to resemble the digital tools I utilize and where I place myself when I am creating art.

Bio

As an inspiring graphic designer and 3D artist, I heavily use digital software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe 3D Substance Painter, and Blender. For my graphic design and digital manipulation work, I turn to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I enjoy making collages from a collection of photos. The subject matter is usually myself or my friends. I like the idea of repetition of subjects as it provides focus and enhancement on the subject, making it seem bigger than life. I never have an exact idea of what I will create; I simply see the photos, begin placing them on the art board, and work from there. For my 3D modeling and texturing work, I use Adobe 3D Substance Painter and Blender. The types of 3D models I like to make are usually intimate objects such as buildings, ships, signs, and more. Growing up with a dad who is a graphic designer,  I have always been surrounded and intrigued by these digital tools. I would watch my dad work and question what he was doing but I never truly understood. As I grew older, I learned to utilize these digital tools and software for myself. I learned how efficient and fun these digital software were to work with. When I sit myself down and start creating my art, I feel comfortable, and at peace, in my type of sanctuary. I feel as if I can do no wrong when I am in that zone.
